Former World Champion and ex-Cronulla resident and once regular Sandshoes surfer, Peter 'PT' Townend, recently traveled from his home in Huntington Beach, California to the Gold Coast Convention Centre to attend the 2025 annual Surfing Australia, Hall of Fame Awards.
PT made the trans-Pacific lightning visit to personally honour his life-long friend Graham ‘Sid’ Cassidy who was being inducted into the Australian Hall of Fame.

PT insisted on sitting at the ‘Team Sandshoes’ table for the evening, and requesting us to give the nod to allow celebrated surfing journalist Phil Jarratt to also exclusively join the ‘Shoes’ table at the gala event.
Both of these two surfing celebrities have decades of dealing with Sid Cassidy on the highest level of blue ribbon pro surfing contests and world tour development.
On the glamour night in December, PT was proudly sporting a trademark pink jacket and his blue Sandshoes Boardriders t-shirt that Sid had personally presented to him about 10-years ago.
The moral of the story… proudly wear your Sandshoes Boardriders t-shirt, you just never know where you might end up.
